L.E.A.D.E.R.S.H.I.P.
This country is very familiar with different styles of leadership. Over the short history of this country, we have been through 44 changes to our presidency (43 different men). We have had many military leaders, Congress leaders, state leaders, and the list can go on and on. Sometimes we are against our leaders and sometimes we are for them. We don’t always agree with what they have to say. However, God’s leaders are different. This morning we are focusing on God’s Blueprint for leadership. I wanted to give you a few things to think about in terms of God’s leaders.
Loyal – a leader sets an example in loyalty to the church family and the surrounding community
Enterprising – A leader is industrious and sees through or around difficulties. He does not mind working hard and sacrificially.
Attentive – A leader gives close attention to details, remembering that “cursed is he that doeth the work of the Lord negligently” (Jer. 48:10).
Dependable – A leader is always ready and on time. He is always present not only for the service for which he is responsible, but for all services.
Eager – A leader is enthusiastic about serving the Lord in the position to which he has been appointed.
Radiant – A leader is happy and optimistic, seldom criticizing and always encouraging others.
Surrendered – A leader puts Christ first, others second, and himself last.
Honest – A leader gives advice, correction, and encouragement even when it may be hard to do so.
Industrious – A leader works hard. He matches talk with real work.
Prayerful – A leader serves as if everything depended on him and prays as if everything depended on God.
God wants leaders who want to serve Him. He wants leaders who put His wants and desires before their own. He not only wants these leaders in the church, but also in the home. If you are a parent or grandparent, reread the list above and see if you are being a Godly leader in the home. The first place a child learns about God is from their parents. May we all strive to be Godly leaders!
